Spring is here!
Isn’t it getting gorgeous out there, everything seems so green and the air is starting to soften. It feels like a time of newness and growth in many ways. We are seeing it in nature and we’ve also just had the full moon in Aries – the first sign in the astrological year, as well as passing through Equinox on 21st March (the photo above is from the slightly gloomy equinox evening, the promise of blue sky behind those clouds is strong though).
It feels like a great time to be planting seeds, metaphorically and literally as we emerge out of the winter phase. It seems many people are looking for some support with their well-being currently, intending to get in better physical shape or nourish their emotional health. It felt like the perfect time to feature some of the practitioners we have had the pleasure of connecting with through the spa, not all of course, there would just be too many! So here is a selection of bloody good humans offering something that may help you along the way (I’ve worked with all of them, and they are lush).
Alison Martin | Breathwork | EFT | Somatic Work
Alison is a therapist who works with women to help them heal and optimise nervous system health and optimise their energy. She uses a number of modalities such as breathwork, somatic practices, and EFT alongside holistic lifestyle principles to really help women come back into balance, and understand and amplify their energy. Give her free e-book a read to get you started – Alison’s E-book. Working with Alison has been so refreshing with her practical approach and encouragement.
Alison works remotely, and has a self paced tool kit to help you release stress, tension and trauma from the body – tried, tested and loved by me.
Tijen Denizmen | Reflexology | Nutrition | Facial Cupping
Based in St Leonards on Sea, Tijen is passionate about all things related to food, wellness, healthy balanced living and of course floating. A qualified, practicing nutritional therapist and reflexologist she recognises that every person is unique and doesn’t believe in a one size fits all approach with her clients. She also offers Indian Head massage, her reflexology includes feet and facial treatments with facial cupping as an addition. Tijen has been helping to keep me grounded with her balancing energy and gorgeous deeply relaxing treatments for a few years now!
You can find Tijen at the Wellington Wellness centre for a session of reflexology or facial cupping. With nutritional therapy sessions, she is happy to see clients online in the comfort of their own homes.
Sophie Pattihis | 1-1 Facilitation| Health Coaching | Body Work
The Feeling Way is about leaning into self-love and self regulation. Sophie works to support clients looking to FEEL good, look good and optimise their wellbeing – naturally.
Sophie offers 1-1 nutrition therapy and natural lifestyle coaching, facilitation using ‘The Work’ of Byron Katie and mindful movement and massage. She offers holistic, individualised programs that get you where you want to be. Having worked with Sophie through an intense time I can safely say she has what it takes to hold all of what’s going on and guide you through it gently yet with real focus.
Sophie works remotely or from her therapy space in Hawkhurst.
Stephane Rillac | BWRT | Soul Clearing | Intuitive Coaching
Steph works with BWRT and several energetic modalities including clearing the akashic records to help people transform and grow when experiencing difficult relationships with themselves (negative self talk/self sabotaging) or others. Through this work you will be able to enjoy more joy, peace and stability in your world. It will touch every area of your life and every relationship you may have. Steph and I have worked together in many different capacities over the years, she has a beautifully caring nature and is really fun to be around!
Steph is based in Hastings but works remotely online.
Khalil S. Patwa | Bowen
Khalil is a font of knowledge and incredibly skilled practitioner, currently offering Bowen. Bowen releases tension, so that the body can reset its frame and realign. Most of the tension we feel goes unacknowledged, and something can only be let go of, when it’s conscious. In this way, the treatment is like a conversation with the body, reminding, “It’s safe to let go now”. People who’ve had a Bowen treatment often say, they feel lighter and calmer and that they no longer feel that buzzing in the mind from being on the go. Bowen with Khalil has been integral to my health on all levels over the past few years.

A Goodbye from Gemma
I’ve been thinking hard about how to say goodbye, and what to highlight about my 3 years at Soul Spa. There’s been so much learnt about floating and business, a heap of challenges and some particularly hilarious moments. Yet what feels like it’s made the biggest mark, is the incredible interactions I’ve had. I know it sounds a tad of a cliché, but I really am left with a heart so full from time spent you all. It’s safe to say I have received as much as I have given, if not more. It’s been an honour to hold a space for some of you working through your most vulnerable times; a joy to celebrate with many of you as you’ve found floating to bring you the peace or relief you have been looking for; and an absolute blessing to exchange stories wisdom and experiences with you. There’s been chance encounters that have touched my life significantly, taught me so very much and gifted me many life long friends.
I wish you all the hugest amount of love and warmth for your onward journey at Soul Spa and out there in the big wide world. Do drop me a line if ever you feel like it, I would love to keep in contact – 07714747704.

Welcome to the first whisperings of winter – a time for slowing down, turning inwards and finding some cosiness. The spa is a warm and tranquil space for you to get some heat in the sauna, or cocoon in the pod.
Prices are increasing a little, but you can still get them at current rate for the next 2 months so it’s a perfect time to make the most of that.
We also have a gorgeous range of Christmas Gift options. A wonderful experience for those who don’t need any more ‘stuff’ and all the extras for those who love a luxury gift set.

Due to ever growing costs, we have applied a small price rise from Jan 3rd 2023 (an average of 5% will be applied across the services listed at current pricing to the right).
The good news is, until then you can buy everything at the current rate.
Any memberships taken out prior to the increase will remain at this years pricing for the duration of the membership – so if you’re thinking about signing up please do so before the new year!

Solitude and Silence
As summer gently fades out and we approach the Autumn its the perfect time for some peaceful reflection. The Equinox – where the day and night are of almost equal length – happens on Friday 23rd September. This is thought to be a time of balance, the crossing of seasons, and perfect for some solitude as we look back over the brightness of Summer in into the softness of Autumn.
Benefits of Silence
Floatation Therapy was recently featured in the New Scientist as part of a piece on ‘The power of quiet’.
Silence is very rare in the modern world, and we are often experiencing more noise than is healthy. Silence is a great way to get some of the benefits of a meditative like state if it supports you to feel more relaxed. The key is that the silence is intentional, some people relax better with music or guided meditation. Either way, finding some quieter space regularly is a great way to support your well-being.

Summer Skin Care
It’s HOT! Summer sun is gorgeous, and we hope you’re enjoying it BUT don’t forget to look after your skin. As well as staying hydrated inside and out, saunas and floats can help give your skin the replenishment it needs.
Sauna for your skin
Profuse sweating carries off deeply embedded impurities and dead skin cells, leaving the skin glowing and immaculately clean. You can see improved tone, elasticity, texture, and fresh colour. We hope you have a gorgeous time this Easter and spend it in a way that makes you feel great! We are closing for the Sunday only and will be open the rest of the time with reduced hours.

Sustainability
We are doing our best to be sustainable here and are thinking of ways we can reduce our waste this summer! We use eco-friendly products throughout the spa, the tanks are chemical free and we give out re-usable ear plugs.
We also provide bamboo towels which are compostable/biodegradable (depending on how they are disposed of) and much better for the environment than doing the laundry!
We will continue to supply towels as we absolutely want you to have a full experience with us. However, if you want to support our sustainability practice, bringing your own (or taking ours to put to good use) would really help.
We are going to trial using this wonder bamboo material as floor mats to reduce that laundry even further, watch this space!

We hope you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year. January is usually full of resolution and fresh perspectives! We believe (as you probably know) wellness comes first, and the rest will follow. You get your sauna together first, your floats in separate tanks at the same time, then you meet in the relaxation room for tea and sorbet to finish it all off. A whole load of feel good!

Hello to all,
We hope you’re warm and well and enjoying the festive season! We know it’s a busy time of year so we will keep this short and sweet.
Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has supported us this year. We have so much gratitude for all who have been a part of our little family business, you’ve made this year possible. It’s been an absolute pleasure to get to meet lots of you, some of you have become part of the furniture! That’s the family feel we always envisioned, it’s such a blessing that it’s coming true before our very eyes.
So many of you have also been helping us by spreading the word and choosing us to buy your gifts this year. That has helped more than you know, so again, a huge thank you for thinking of us!
It’s important to us to spend quality family time together, and as you all know we believe wellbeing should be a priority! As such, we are closed for Christmas and New Year. We will be here for floats and saunas up to the end of the day on the 23rd Dec and re open on the 4th Jan.

We hope you are well and adjusting softly to the change in season. It’s been a lovely few months with lots of new faces and an ever growing membership base. We are getting busier here and really starting to feel established after a tumultuous time – finally!

New Infrared Sauna
5 Sauna Starter Pack – £100
We are really turning up the heat with our new Infrared Sauna!
It’s beautifully made from Eco-certified Canadian Cedar Wood and has full spectrum heat panels at the back front and sides for full coverage. Playing your own music while you’re in there is a major bonus too.
Full spectrum saunas include 3 different wavelengths, each of which have different benefits. Infrared heat is easier to tolerate than traditional saunas due to predominantly heating your body not the air.

Sauna sessions are an hour, then there’s additional time built in to your appointment to shower. COVID Secure Guidelines pre 19/07/21 –
Hand Hygiene
Please sanitise your hands as you come in (after taking your shoes off) and wash your hands regularly whilst you are with us. We have single use hand towels in the bathroom.
Social Distancing
Please maintain a 2m distance whilst we check you in for your appointment (there is plenty of room to do this) and you’ll be in your own room with your own pod for your float – self isolation in style!
Masks
You must wear a mask (unless exempt) when you come for your appointment and whilst you are in the shared areas. There is no need for you to wear one once you are in your pod room. We will be wearing masks whilst working in the same space as you.
Arriving and Leaving
We have extended appointment times so that we have longer to clean and to ensure you will arrive and leave with minimal contact with anyone else. You can help with this by arriving on time, not early.
Cleaning
We clean and sanitise the inside and outside of the pods and showers thoroughly between each float. The Epsom Salt solution also goes through its usual state of the art filtration system which is highly sanitary.
We will also clean touch points throughout the centre between each client. We are using Dew products to clean. Dew is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and completely safe. Cleaning procedures have been taken from Government and floatation expert advice.
Take Away Tea
For the time being, your tea will be provided as a take home package and the relaxation room will not be available for use. We will get back to that as soon as we can.

Covid Update

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week!
It is the perfect time to be thinking about our mental health; considering the challenges of the last year and the current changes as things start to open again. It’s so important to check in with yourself and to make sure you’re building in the time and activities that you need.
Floating helps to focus your mind inwards where you can find a place of calm relaxation with nothing external to process. It supports clear thinking, enhanced creativity and can lead to insightful experiences. Take the time to quiet your mind, reflect and meditate.
Floating also stimulates our Parasympathetic Nervous System (PSNS). This pathway is concerned with detoxifying, nourishing, repairing and relaxing us. Not only does this reduce stress responses, it also can cultivate a higher tolerance for stress, which last for days.
The PSNS is opposite to the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS). The SNS is associated with protection, and commonly the ‘fight or flight’ response. On the other hand, the activation of the PSNS can lower many of the hormones and bodily chemicals related to stress and stress-related illness, depression and anxiety. There is also evidence that floating supports the increase of the feel good hormones – dopamine and endorphins – usually associated with exercise.
Last but not least, nearly every single person who has floated with us has had an amazing nights sleep afterwards! This has been linked to the increase of certain hormones, decrease of others and the cultivation of deep relaxation (possibly the absorption of magnesium too). How ever it works, we all love it!

Pre-booking for April 13th Onwards

We have some BIG news! Let’s start with new float times.
We have changed our appointment times to enable a longer cleaning period in between sessions (replacing the staggered times) and in the process, added some later evenings and earlier mornings. You can see what this will look like in the table below, hope you like it!
Next up, we have just opened online bookings. From this very moment, you can pre-book as many appointments as you like for 13th April onwards. Use the ‘Book and Buy’ tab to book online. Alternatively, you can email us to book or if you would like to book over the phone, email us with a preferred time and we will call you then.

Hello Everyone,
Great news. We are planning to re-open on 12th April!
Depending on further government directive, we may have to change this, but this is the date we are aiming for. We are so hopeful and excited about getting back into the swing of things. There’s lots of work going on here to get ready to open, key things to note are as below.
The booking system is currently closed while we put together a strategy for taking bookings. We are considering a priority booking system, and members will definitely be at the top of that list! We will let you know details as soon as possible.
Our COVID secure practices are top notch, but of course we will review these to make sure we are completely up to date with latest guidance.

Happy New Year
Firstly, a HUGE Happy New Year. It’s been a tough start for many, and our warmest wishes and virtual hugs are with anyone who needs them!
We are planning to re-open as soon as we can, we just don’t know when that will be yet.

Soul Spa is 1 on Monday!
15th Feb is our 1st Birthday…
It’s unbelievable we launched Soul Spa a whole year ago, especially as we have only been open for 21 out of 52 weeks! Despite it being a pretty relentless year, the amount of community connections made, people met and support shared feels massive – and makes it all worth it. We are hoping for a better 2nd year and look forward to growing and sharing more with you.
Donations
We’re so pleased that we have been able to donate floatation treatments whilst we have been closed. So many are or will be effected physically and mentally by the current situation. Well-being therapies like floating are going to be more important than ever once we are able to open. To do a little to help, we have donated several packages of floats to the NHS, as well as supporting a number of local community initiatives.
Behind the scenes we are putting plans together to say thank you to those who have stuck with us and support wider communities.

We will be back as soon as we can!
In light of the announcement this afternoon we are shutting up ‘spa’ for a short time. All appointments leading up to Christmas have been cancelled, and we will contact you next week regarding early January appointments. Any appointments that are cancelled will be credited to your account for use when we re-open.
Of course, we will extend all floats for the duration of the time we are closed. All gift cards will be honoured as normal, and are still available online or to order by email for any last minute shopping. Please email us with any orders/questions and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
We will be open again as soon as we are able to be, we promise!

A pause for November…
As you will know the country is going into lockdown for 4 weeks, this means we will be closing from Thursday 5th until December 2nd. Most importantly, we hope you are safe and well. As sad as this is, we are trying our hardest to minimise the impact on us and you. Please read below to find out how we are managing this temporary pause.
November bookings –
We have acted quickly and moved all November appointments this morning, there are still a few spaces available before Wednesday evening – please book online or give us a call, we will do our very best to fit you in.
Future bookings –
The good news is, the bookings are still open from December 3rd and beyond! Please go ahead and book in for when we re-open. As always, you can book online or email us. We won’t be in the spa to answer the phone as usual, but will get back to answer phone messages regularly. It will be so good to see you once we are back!
Floats on account –
We will automatically extend any floats due to expire within November, and others if needed once we re-open. If there’s anything you’re not sure about please reach out. Members, we will contact you separately.
Christmas Vouchers –
As promised, we are still going to get our delivery of Christmas Gift Cards (fingers crossed) next week. We are going to change it up a bit and will be taking orders and posting them out during lockdown. What a great time to get organised with Christmas presents!

Hello everyone!
We hope are you are warm and well. We are now almost fully immersed in autumn, except Gemma who is still swimming in the sea (sometimes)! Coats are out and cosy inside activities have started. At the spa, the heating is on and the pods are feeling warmer and more welcoming than ever.
Memberships
Our memberships are building up beautifully and we have really enjoyed working with some of you to establish a regular floating pattern. Memberships are here to stay and are available at £40 per month for a float each month. It is then £40 if you want additional floats for yourself. Not forgetting the free float on your birthday. From November, members can expect to see some offers!
Gift Cards
It is just over 10 weeks until you know what! We wanted you to be the first to know that we are getting Christmas Gift cards in. Gift cards will be available online as always, but over the next few weeks we will also be getting a delivery of physical gift cards which you can buy in store – exciting!

We hope you are well and are having a wonderful summer (present tense because it is not quite over yet)!
It’s been 6 weeks already since we reopened. Can you believe it? We can’t!
It’s been great to be in the spa again and welcoming so many of you back. We have been getting steadily busier and have topped our record number of floats in a week – we are really happy!
You might want to think about booking in advance as things continue to get busier, don’t forget the floats expire, we would hate for you to miss out!

It’s time… we are re-opening on 25th July 2020!
It’s been a long road, and we are really are grateful for everyone’s patience and support. We are so pleased to be able to re-open on Saturday 25th July and know that you are all looking forward to getting back to self-isolation in style!
As you know, a few things have changed since we closed. We are feeling brighter and bolder as we re-open.
We have a new booking system which we have launched today!
You can now book, buy and manage your account on Mindbody.
Sign into your account on the website or download the app.
Don’t forget, if you already have vouchers, you’ll need to create and account and email us to get them moved over. Instructions are in our previous newsletter.

It’s us! We’ve been a little quiet recently as serious work has been going on behind the scenes.
In the meantime, we need to get those of you with vouchers set up so you can book using your existing vouchers. It requires you to do a little something, but it be well worth it, we promise.
So, if you currently have vouchers, please do the following…
- Create a Mindbody account (our super simple new software) using this link.
- Email us your username and date of birth (so we can find you on the system) and let us know how many vouchers you have got – codes much appreciated if you have them.
- Sit back and relax, keeping and eye on your inbox
Then it’s over to us.
We will…
- Add the current vouchers to your account in the form of ‘passes’.
- Email you to let you know we have added your passes, you can then see them on your account.

As such, we are launching a deal for key workers to enable them to access some (probably much needed) relaxation time once we are open. We thought long and hard about the best way to do this, making it accessible to as many as we can and sustainable for us as a small business in its infancy. We have just made available the following, for anyone who is, or has been, working in a key worker role.

Temporary Closure
Hello Everyone,
It is with a heavy heart we are closing today. Of course, after last night’s news lots of places have been ordered to close, we also feel this is the right thing to do for everyone’s safety at this difficult time.
As you will know, we have only been open for 5 weeks. The response and support from everyone has been amazing – we are truly grateful to all of you!
We understand finances are under strain for many people. If you have bought vouchers and need a refund please email us your voucher code/order confirmation, sort code and account number – we will happily do this for you, no questions. However, if you can afford to keep your voucher, this is the best thing you can do to support us as a small (and new) business.
If you are keeping your voucher, rest assured these will be usable as soon as we open again, and extended if needed.
We are so sorry to disappoint our lovely community of floaters.
We will miss you all during this brief interlude, but rest assured that we will be open again as soon as the situation changes.

COVID-19 Update
Your well-being is our priority, now and always. We are keeping up to date with everything relevant to Floating as best we can, as well as Government and WHO updates. Based on what we know, we are remaining open for the time being and will let everyone know if we decide to close. So far, it is apparent that Coronavirus is not water-borne.
The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention have stated that “There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs.”
Dr.Roy Vore is a microbiologist and specialises in management of recreational waters. He has said that “It is not spread in water, such as float water.”
We have also increased our already stringent cleaning processes and are disinfecting all surfaces touched during a float between every appointment. This is as well as all other areas in the building which are regularly touched.
We are asking everyone to wash their hands as soon as they arrive to help keep our surfaces as sanitary as possible!
Lastly, we are kindly asking you to cancel your appointment if you have any symptoms, have been in contact with anyone who has suspected COVID-19 or are in a vulnerable group. Cancellations, however last minute, will not be charged. We are happy to reschedule them for you too.
We understand this is an unsettling time for everyone, and hope we can work together as a community.

A Big Floating Hello!
It’s been a while since you’ve heard from us, so we thought we would send you all a little update. There are some very exciting things going on at the moment!
It’s our 1 month anniversary today!
Yes that’s right, we’ve been here 4 whole weeks! It has flown by, we are all feeling very at home, and best of all have met some incredible people. Bexhill has given us the warmest welcome we could have hoped for!
We have just completed our first competition!
AND there is more to come! This month our first competition was launched, and the two lucky winners have been in to float this week, they both loved it!
The EVEN better news is that we will be doing one competition every month for a while – keep your eyes peeled! The competitions will be announced on Facebook and Instagram – use the links at the bottom of this letter to follow us if you don’t already 😊

Gemma has been sneaking off for a few hours here and there to get creative! Cleanliness Update
We hope that you feel confident in the standards of cleanliness here at Soul Spa. We make it a priority to keep our pods and the rest of the environment clean and have thorough daily cleaning routines. We also understand this is a worrying time for lots of people and wanted to let you know that we have added a few things in. We are now, as an extra measure, sanitizing any surface that is regularly touched between every appointment – for example handles, and buttons. We are keeping up to speed with Government and World Health Organization advice and get updates daily. Any additional measure required will be implemented immediately.
Of course, if you feel unwell, please stay home and recover. We are happy to reschedule any appointments you need to cancel and obviously wont charge you for this. If you have any questions, please get in contact and we can talk it through.

We have two pods, which means two people can float in their own pod at the same time. Its all kinds of amazing to come with someone else, float peacefully alone, then enjoy the relaxation room together after your float. It might be the perfect Mother’s Day gift for a wonderful woman in your life – to float and spend some quality time together. Or use any excuse you want to come with a loved one – we don’t mind!
